چکیده
This study evaluated the bromatological and histological features of native African grasses under grazing in Brazilian semi-arid rangelands. An experimental grid design was used a randomised sampling method for four replicate samples three grasses. The were: Cenchrus ciliaris L., Digitaria pentzii Stent. Megathyrsus maximus (Jacq.). traits analysed included dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), neutral detergent fibre corrected to ashes (NDFap), lignin, mesophyll, vascular bundle, phloem, xylem, sheath, sclerenchyma, bulliform cells, adaxial abaxial epidermis. type grass cycle correlated with DM, NDF lignin (p < 0.05), whereas CP not affected by these factors > 0.05). Dry ranged between 128 304 g kg−1; 90 167 NDFap 542 707 kg−1, 10 40 kg−1. proportion xylem (8.4%), sheath (30.5%) total bundles (38.1%) were greater M. percentage sclerenchyma did differ species C. had mesophyll than Of analysed. exhibited highest forage quality, because it lowest concentration lower proportions lignified tissues.

Plant Species and Functional Types’ Diversity in Relation to Grazing in Arid and Semi-arid Rangelands, Khabr National Park, Iran
In arid and semi-arid rangelands, grazing as one of the natural or human induced processes has direct and indirect effects on structure and dynamics of plant community and ecosystems. A study was done to analyze the effects of grazing on plant species diversity and Plant Functional Types‘ (PFTs) diversity of arid and semi-arid rangelands. We analyzed plant richness and diversity data from 75 sa...
متن کاملInfluence of livestock grazing on C sequestration in semi-arid mixed-grass and short-grass rangelands.
We evaluated the effects of livestock grazing on C content of the plant-soil system (to 60 cm) of two semi-arid grasslands: a mixed-grass prairie (grazed 12 years), and a short-grass steppe (grazed 56 years). Grazing treatments included season-long grazing at heavy and light stocking rates, and non-grazed exclosures. Significantly higher soil C (0-30cm) was measured in grazed pastures compared ...
متن کاملBush encroachment control and risk management in semi-arid rangelands.
We study the role of bush encroachment control for a farmer's income and income risk in a stochastic ecological-economic model of grazing management in semi-arid rangelands. In particular, we study debushing as an instrument of risk management that complements the choice of an adaptive grazing management strategy for that sake. We show that debushing, while being a good practice for increasing ...

The calcium status of lactating, non-lactating, and male sheep on farm in southwestern Punjab, Pakistan was studied. Pasture and animal were sampled at the end of the first month of summer and winter. All samplings were carried out fortnightly. A mineral supplement was available to all animals throughout the year. Plasma calcium in all animals was not affected by the physiologic state and gende...
متن کاملNutritive Value of Grasses in Semi-arid Rangelands of Ethiopia: Local Experience Based Herbage Preference Evaluation versus Laboratory Analysis
We examined the nutritive value of common grass species in the semi-arid rangelands of Borana in southern Ethiopia using local experience based herbage preference (LEBHP) perception and laboratory techniques. Local pastoralists in the study area were asked to identify common grass species and rank them according to the species' preferences and palatability to cattle. The pastoralists listed a t...
